As a UX designer, I have been
• documenting my work on Medium
• building Design Systems
Outside of work I
• travel with a Baymax Figurine
• try to learn a little bit more about UX
• play some Brawl Stars
Sometimes I also
• help techies transit into design
• share about my design experiences
I joined IBM as a part of the Consulting by Degrees graduate program. I provide UX design consulting services for clients in the ASEAN region across multiple industries such as telecommunications, media & entertainment, banking, retail, public sector and hospitality.
My design work focuses on digital transformation, application and website redesign, improving processes and usability, building design systems, and conceptualizing product ideas.
The first job in my UX career. Here, I contributed to the design of the NTU MENTOR mobile application by bringing it from user research to high fidelity prototype in an iterative approach.
On top of design work, I helped to manage the project, source for developers, and translate my designs as requirements for the development team.
Unsure of the viability of finding a job in UX with my non-design degree, I enrolled on a 10-week UX design course to be certified. In these 10 weeks, I completed five projects - all of which I employed end-to-end User Experience Design process.
The curriculum in Singapore Management University’s School of Information Systems consists of both technical and business studies which I found highly relevant to UX. Skills I picked up here consists of interaction design, prototyping, design thinking, writing to communicate, information architecture, process modelling and optimisation, project management, building/managing systems, strategy, technopreneurship, and analytics.
I was also given the opportunity to work as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for IS306 - Interaction Design & Prototyping where I mentored other students under the guidance of the Professors. Aside from administrative work, I provided advice to student teams on their project’s research, ideation, usability and designs.
